5th Annual Chocolate Lovers Festival
February 2014 - Chocolatiers and bakers in Wrangell turned out the goodies in the hours before the 5th Annual Hospital Auxiliary's Chocolate Lovers Festival, and Wrangellites turned out in force to snap up nearly 100 boxes of the tasty treats.
"It was a really great year, we sold nearly all our boxes and the silent auction rocked," remarked the Hospital Auxiliary's Vice President, Jane Bliss. "We really appreciate the support of the community in both the donations of chocolate and those who came out to bid on the auction and purchase boxes of goodies."
New this year was a 'thank you' drawing which anyone who donated a chocolate confection was entered to win. Other prizes were given for 'Best Candy' (won by Bernie Massin), Best Brownie (Baha'i Jr. Youth Group), Best Cupcake AND Best in Show (Lorraine Allen) and, in a new category this year, Youngest Chef (Clara Waddington).
The event raised over $2,600 for the Hospital Auxiliary, which will invest that amount back into Wrangell Medical Center in the form of equipment (a 'fluid warmer' was the most recent purchase made for the Medical Center through assistance by the Auxiliary).
