Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an appointment for imaging services? You do need an appointment for all Ultrasounds and Mammograms. You do not need an appointment for general x-rays. Come to the Front Desk of WMC and the friendly staff will register you for your exams. You will need to bring your ORDER from your Provider or make sure that it has already been sent to us by your Provider. The only exception to the ORDER rule is that you may self request a Screening Mammogram. Screening Mammogram is defined as an annual routine mammogram with no problems.
What do I need to do to prepare for to visit the imaging department? In some cases fasting is required. However, preparations can vary so if there is any question you should contact the Imaging Department at 874-7128 to verify what you should do.
Can I get a copy of my results? Yes, you can get a copy of your results. You must sign a release if you want your records released to yourself or to another physician other than the ordering physician. You will need to pick your records up from the Health Information Management Department in person.
How long will it take before my physician has results? Results are sent to your physician 2-3 days, on average. If you have not heard back from your physician in this timeframe, you may want to contact him/her.
Why did I get two bills for my X-ray, Mammogram, or Ultrasound? Patients who receive X-ray, Mammogram, and Ultrasound services will receive a bill from Radiology Associates, P.C. (they read your images) as well as Wrangell Medical Center (we take your images).
